The Rise of Influencer Culture: Moroccan Students' Perspectives

Who is an influencer? It is someone who is able to persuade their followers on social media. An influencer is a trend seller who works with brands to promote their products and gets paid for it. Since social media became so popular, people started to idolize influencers and began considering it as a job. Influencers can be bad or good, and the videos that they share have a strong impact on their followers, especially kids and teenagers. They get influenced easily, and with that, a dangerous trend can go viral, and many people can get hurt trying to copy it. On the other hand, some influencers post educational videos to raise awareness. In my opinion, you can’t trust all influencers, and you should be able to tell if they are good or bad depending on their behavior, posts, and content.

Influencers are people who have a large number of followers and use their popularity to promote products or ideas. Many brands now prefer to work with influencers instead of using traditional advertisements because they can reach a specific audience in a more personal way.

Many people trust influencers’ opinions that’s why companies often work with influencers to promote their products. This has made influencer marketing a powerful way to reach customers and shape trends. This culture has changed how people discover new ideas and products. Influencers often feel more relatable than traditional celebrities, and their followers see them as friends. This makes their advice and recommendations more trusted.

However, influencer culture has raised questions of authenticity, mental health, and the pressure of online perfection, as many creators feel the need to maintain an idealized image.

Brands nowadays have realized influencers’ power in reaching a specific audience, and we often trust recommendations from content creators we relate to or are connected to. That alone shows us that influencers have a big impact on our lives even if we don’t realize that.
